The High King of Skyrim was executed by Ulfric Stormcloak, and because of this, war is now set to tear apart the people of Skyrim. The Imperial army battles a rebel faction known as the Stormcloaks for the rights of the Nords and the ruling of Skyrim. Victory seemed to finally be in the hands of the Imperial army, as they had captured the leader of the rebel group. To Helgen they went in order to execute Ulfric Stormcloak.

However, before they could do so, once more the leader slipped from their grasp. This time however, it wasn't his own wiles, but that of a dragon attacking Helgen. In a dazed terror, they scrambled to live with this dragon attacking them. In the mess of this, Ulfric escaped his execution and slipped back to Windhelm. Though there were survivors from the attack of the powerful dragon Alduin, many died and the town of Helgen was destroyed.

Dragons haven't been seen by the people in Skyrim for many many years, and were thought to be nothing but a legend. How wrong they proved to be. The prophecy has started to be fulfilled. Not only was Alduin sighted that first time, but more and more dragons seem to be waking up after so long of a time. Though war still rages between the two sides, they must now both take into account the threat that is the dragons looming on the horizon.

And as of so far, there is no Dragonborn that has stepped up to take the title...
