PERSONALITY
DESCRIPTION: Unlike his overly serious partner in crime, Elegost is the very opposite. Being a people person, Elegost is quite approachable. Able to talk to anyone who allows it. However, most of the time he is talking to someone, the gears in his mind are turning. Always with a remark to say at anything, Elegost would use his quick tongue for mischievous reasons. Whether he is making a joke, teasing his partner or the other member of the guild, or flirting with a woman who catches his fancy, Elegost will always have something to say. With an infamous smirk that he carries all to well, Elegost does carry a mischievous air about him. Always looking for an opportunity to prank, tease, or crack a joke. Even if it's only him that's laughing. And his jokes don't just stop with his comrades. Strangers also fall "victim" to his antics, although some don't notice until later that day, their coin purse missing. Even customs and traditions the other races have are also a target of his. To him, some customs are ridiculous, and he is often heard speaking, or joking, about them. Gods and Daedra are no better, although he learned to respect others beliefs.
Elegost also has a somewhat of a cocky nature along with his mischievous ways. Being a better archer than most, Elegost has no problems showing off his archery skills to anyone. Especially his partner, Arissa. Archery being his second passion, he has a knack to get into competitions, betting gold even though he knows he may win. When he is bored, Archery was always something he can rely on. It even being therapeutic for him, practicing his archery skill is one of few ways to get his mind off the day. Aside from archery, Elegost other pass time is flirting with women, and sometimes he will score a lovely night. However, he does have a few rules. He'll never mess with a married woman, and someone he is obviously to old, or to young for him. However, recently, he has taken a break from gaining new conquests, and has started to focus more on the guild. That doesn't stop him from flirting, however.
Regardless of his mischievous behavior that he rarely let's down, Elegost can be a caring individual. Being the people person he is, he can pick up on others tells and quirks, and being the loud mouth he is infamous for, will normally call someone on any odd behavior they do. Depending on the person he is with, also effect's his behavior, to a small degree. With people he knows very well, like Arissa, he will often check to see if they are alright. Even calling out anything odd they do. And even though he has an odd way of showing it, he is very loyal to the guild and his fellow comrades. He may pick on them, or joke with them, but it's his way of saying that he is comfortable and likes their company.
Although he rather be joking around and having a fun time, Elegost does have a serious side to him. Depending on the situation, Elegost can be a totally different person. During certain jobs, Elegost would focus only on the mission, and nothing else. If a friend is in danger, or being threatened, he will not stop for anything until that person is safe, even if it costs his life. He also has a somewhat dark outlook on the future. To him, nothing is set in stone for the future to come. In his line of work, death is always around the corner, and he figures that he just live each day as it comes, with no worries of what the next day has to offer. Even though his serious moments are rare, they are noticed, and he can be oblivious on how others see this side. Not knowing that his outlook on life, can worry those around him.
What many don't know about Elegost, is that sometimes he puts a face on for those in the guild. His happy, carefree look being only a facade. The memories of his past to this day haunt him, and his way of hiding such memories is through his jokes, and certain habits he picked up. One of those habits, is drinking. Figuring that the only way to forget is by the aid of a cool drink in his hand, Elegost has developed a taste for booze. On his free time, he will on occasion be seen in the Ragged Flagon or the Bee and Barb, drink in hand. In his drunk state, however, he is very honest depending on who is asking the questions. If it's someone he trusts, he is not afraid to reveal what he has done before the guild. Sad thing being, he will not remember the conversation or anything he did in his drunken state that next morning.
One thing that is a mystery to the other guilds, is how he is able to steal so much on the side. From gold, to jewels, to hoarding arrows, to sweetrolls, Elegost will always have something else in his pockets or hands. Even though he doesn't have plans for the future, earning money for himself is something he enjoys, and stealing objects that will earn him a good pay for himself is something he will do regularly. Another mystery the guild and his partner have yet to figure out, is how he always seems to never run out of sweetrolls. And how he can use the simple pastry as a tool for bribes.
Overall, Elegost is sweetroll loving, carefree individual with a slight serious side. With a love for archery and anything with a price. With an odd way of showing it, he also cares for his comrades and importantly, his partner. His few weaknesses being that he can't fight as well in hand to hand, being armed with a dagger that can be used as an Orc's back scratchier. His lock picking isn't the greatest thing in the world. And he sometimes makes decisions that could probably end his life, and wouldn't tell his partner of it till after. Also, he cares more for his partner, Arissa, then he let's on, but fears getting to close due to his past, and would rather die than letting her get hurt, or killed.
Also note that Elegost has a serious disliking of Skeevers. He doesn't have a fear of them, but just hates the nasty overgrown rats. To him, they are nothing but disease ridding, ugly as Oblivion, rats that steal food. And they are also annoying to him. Even when they are dead, he'd rather not see them. He wouldn't even wish a Skeever infestation on his worst enemies. He hates them that much.
HISTORY
History: Elegost earliest memories of his childhood were in the streets of Jehanna, High Rock. The only thing known to him being his name. Orphaned and growing up in the streets was where Elegost first developed his love for money. To him, it was a means of survival. Money equals food, which means surviving to see another day. It was also where his dark outlook on his future developed. Growing up in the streets was a hard life, and death was always around the corner. Another day living was a blessing to him. It was also where he developed his skills as a short change thief. His nimble fingers finding their ways in others pockets and gaining a few coins for whatever food he can afford.
Growing up in a region where magic was in value, and the Mages Guild being a very prominent faction, Elegost knew he had that ability to learn magic. However, growing up in the streets and being an orphaned Breton he didn't even know how to read wasn't easy. And he was mostly shunned away for being so. Due to that, Elegost grew up not caring for magic. He can always learn it, but to him, it holds no value. He did, however, taught himself to read and write. Those skills being far more important than casting a spell.
Elegost, however, wasn't a very serious child. Being shunned from others, Elegost starved for attention. Pulling pranks and getting in trouble being the only way to get noticed. And even though he was sometimes punished for it, he didn't mind it. He was noticed, his name was being said, and it was the only human reaction he had has a young child. But playing jokes and having fun was enjoying for him, and a favorite hobby of his. Either than that, watching the cities guardsmen in the archery range was the most amazing thing he'd ever seen. Seeing the arrows fly from the bow and making the mark, the whistle they made as they flew in the wind, was a spectacular to Elegost. Wanting to have that skill and learn the art of Archery, Elegost would sneak into the training grounds and teach himself. It was here where he met someone that would change his life.
Only known to Elegost, as Mentor, the older man caught Elegost in the guards barracks, teaching himself archery. Mentor was surprised, and was interested that the young orphaned Breton was able to sneak in undetected. Mentor would take Elegost in, and would train the young boy till his teen years. Also taking care of him. Mentor's reason training Elegost and taking him: To be an assassin. Although not tied to the Dark Brotherhood, Mentor had a certain dislike for the corrupt, and for large amounts of money, would go an assassinate certain individuals. To Elegost, this was a way to survive. Under Mentor's tutelage, his skills in archery grew, and the skills in the arts of a thief amplified.
In his late teen years, Elegost was an assassin under Mentor, killing people who he thought were corrupt individuals. The pay was good, he had food on his plate, and a warm bed to sleep in. For him, life couldn't be any sweeter. Mentor was almost like a father figure, however he was tough on the boy. He tried to force Elegost into a more serious young man, however, Elegost never cracked and his pranks continued. However, life was great for Elegost. Until one certain job came his way. Ordered to kill an older couple, who he believed was a corrupt aristocrat and his wife, Elegost carried the job to the letter. During the cover of night, Elegost would sneak into the house, and kill the elder couple in their sleep. While ending their lives, Elegost would hear a gasp, and see a young girl watching him. The face she had, would forever be burned into Elegost's mind. She was staring at a monster, and that monster was him. There Elegost would learn that he didn't kill a corrupt official, but loving grandparents who only wished the best for their granddaughter. Elegost fled the house, the face of the girl, and her sobs as he ran, forever burn into his memory.
Elegost would then flee Jehanna at the age of nineteen, all the gold he earned in his pocket. Being fearful of himself and what he has done, Elegost would exile himself from his home. Eventually leaving High Rock altogether. Knowing that Mentor would come after him to collect the money Elegost had earned, and possible kill Elegost. The memory of the young girl in his mind, Elegost would develop his drinking habits. And his carefree and mischievous behavior becoming more of a facade to hide such a dark past.
During his travels, Elegost went back to his thieving ways, becoming an independent thief for hire. Eventually traveling through Hammerfell for a few years. There Elegost would learn the ways of fletching and smith work, learning to make arrows for his arsenal and crafting dagger for sale. He would also meet a jewel smith, knowing that jewelry could bring in more gold to his pocket, and would learn the craft. Although Hammerfell brought in some coin to his pocket, Elegost continued to move on.
He would then stumble across Skyrim, and the frigid cold region of Tamriel would soon become his home. Continue has a freelance thief, Elegost would travel the road of the Nordic region. During a time in Markarth, which become his least favorite place, Elegost was offered a sweetroll. Never having the pastry before, Elegost would eat it, and forever be in love with simple dessert. At this point, sweetrolls would become one of three favorite things of his. Right next to gold and women.
Elegost would eventually end up in Riften, and hearing of a thieves guild being within the city, Elegost went looking for the place. Brynolf being the first thief he met, Brynolf would see the skills the Breton had, and would soon invite him in. There Elegost, would use his skills for the guild. Hearing the stories of how it use to be inspired Elegost, and dreams to one day have back to it's former glory. While in the guild, Elegost would meet a beautiful, yet cold, Imperial named Arissa. She would be one of the few people Elegost would openly trust. And even though he would annoy her with his antics, the two would become good friends and partners.
WEAPONS, ABILITIES AND MAGIC
WEAPON(S): Dwarven Bow, with a wide arrangement of arrows he hoarded during travels, or makes himself. Also a really crappy Iron Dagger that would probably tickle someone rather than kill.
MAJOR SKILLS:
Archery: Out of all of the Thieves Guild, and probably the Rift hold, Elegost is by far a better archer. Often showing off his skills in front of a certain someone when he likes. He can provide the right cover when need be, and rarely missing the target. The only time he practices his archery, is when he's bored.
Speech: Out of the duo, Elegost is more profound in the art of Speech craft. Using his looks on women, or his crafty tongue, he can bribe any guard, gain information when needed, or convincing someone to just hand their gold to him. Can work well on NPC's or if a member allows his clever words to get in their head. Plus, he just loves to talk.
Sneak: Like any thief, and his past experiences as an assassin, Elegost can sneak in and out. Although not as great as a few others, he can get in, steal an item or information, and get out before things get to rough. However, not so great a hiding.
Pickpocket: Using his clever speech, or the movements of a crowd, Elegost nimble fingers remove any burdens in ones pockets without them realizing. A clever little party trick he'll call it, and is something he'll do often when in major cities. Just for kicks and giggles.
Lockpicking: Although he can break into a chest, it will cost him ten picks to do it. He can lockpick when needed, however, will pass it on to his partner.
Smithing: An odd skill he picked up over the years. Elegost, if need be, will craft his own arrows with what ever materials he has, or stolen. He can't forge masterful weapons, but arrows and daggers. He can also craft jewelry, although he keeps that to himself.
MAGIC: None, although he is a Breton, he chose not to pursue anything in the arts of magic.
ARMOR AND BELONGINGS
ARMOR: A black leather vest to protect his chest, and black leather arm guards for his forearms. Nothing else to not hinder weight for quick getaways.
BELONGINGS: Aside from his bow, none.
